Filey Museum - Room4 - The Lifeboat Room

«back

The presence of a lifeboat is of paramount importance to a fishing community and this room demonstrates the different types of craft that have been used over the last 200 years, with several detailed models on display.

You can also see some of the working tools of the seafarer and references to the importance of the Coble Landing, which is still the centre of activity for both fishing cobles and lifeboat.

If you make your next stop outside at the Baiting Shed, you will be able to continue to explore this theme of life in a fishing community.
