Filey Museum - How we work
Filey Museum is run entirely by local volunteers and
is operated as a Charitable Trust and a Registered Museum.
There are currently 7 Trustees, who are legally responsible for the
lease of the buildings, for the proper management of the business of
a Charitable Trust and for complying with the requirements for being
a Registered Museum.
The day to day management of the Museum is under the
control of the Honorary Curator, Mrs Margaret Wilkins, supported by those
volunteers
who look after the building and its contents and others who act as Stewards,
looking after our visitors on a rota basis. If you would like to
join our team of volunteers, do please contact Margaret.
The Friends of Filey Museum was formed in 1994 and is
a separate organisation that supports the work of the trustees by fund-raising
and organising
social events. There is a popular junior section for the under
16s. If you are interested in becoming a Friend, download
details and form here.

The Trustees are always willing to assist researchers but ask that reasonable
advance notice is given in order that we can try to ensure that there
is an appropriate person available on the premises when you visit. Filey
Museum and Filey Town Council Archives work together in assisting researchers
and our two premises are only five minutes walk apart.
